Classes are held on the Eastern Michigan University campus in the Olds Student Recreation Center Combatives Room, on the second floor. This room is easily recognizable by its wall-to-wall dark green wrestling mats and the numerous Aikido information posters on the walls.

Our group has been meeting at EMU since the mid 1980's. The classes offered are open to anyone who wishes to participate regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin. Spectators are welcome at any regular class.

Beginners classes start on any Monday. No previous martial arts experience is required. Beginners get to train with experienced classmates every Monday until they are approved for regular, more advanced sessions. At that point, they may attend on Thursdays as well.

Regular classes meet Monday and Thursday year round. Both classes are mixed-level, with students' experience levels ranging from beginners to many years of training.

Open mat training is available for students who regularly attend classes. Beginners should train in regular classes for a month before coming to practice sessions.

Students should wear loose, comfortable clothing suitable for excercise, or a Dogi (training uniform). Sweat pants and a long sleeved t-shirt are good choices. Also, socks and shoes, jewelry, and watches should be removed when entering the Dojo (training area).
